If you’ve ever been to a LAN Party before then you’ve experienced it at least once. You arrive at the site and unpack your gear, only to find one or two key components, or useful utilities, missing from the bunch. And then you’re stuck scouring the LAN Party for hours for anyone who might have what you need.
It’s happened to me plenty of times. Ranging from minor mistakes like forgetting a flashlight or audio splitter, to big ones that will keep you from playing like forgetting a power cable or a LAN cable. So, as of late I’ve decided to use a special LAN checklist to prepare for each LAN Party – and now I’m sharing it with you.
Therefore this list is a required read (and print) for anyone intending to attend a LAN Party. Coming to you from The Reality VIII.
The Hardware
- PC
- Monitor
- Headset
- Audio splitters
Good for watching movies on the same PC and potentially even split screen play. - Keyboard
- Mouse
- Mouse pad
- Game controller
- Joystick
- Surge Protector (multiple outlet strip)
- Power cable
- RJ-45 (LAN) cable
Necessities
- Money
- Games
- Sleeping bag
- Inflatable bed & pump
- Pillow
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Towel
- Deodorant
- Clothing
- Mobile phone
- Flashlight
- Identification
- Any forms required for entry to the LAN Party
Extras
- Food
- Drinks
- Disposable cups
- Empty DVDs
- USB stick
- Pen & paper
- Loads of free space on your hard disk drives
- Extra plastic bags
Can be useful for any number of reasons, but primarily for temporarily storing your filthy clothes. - Toilet paper
Pretty much a necessity, because it runs out like crazy at LAN Parties and you’ll need it eventually. - Screwdriver
Always comes in handy. There’s a good chance you, or one of your friends, will want to break open their case to fix things inside, or upgrade. So take one with you!
I believe you meant RJ-45 wire as LAN wire. That’s your typical ethernet cable terminator. RJ-11 is typically a phone cable termination, unless you want to have relatively slow LAN connections.
My bad. Thanks for the heads up.
Terrific Work! This is the type of information that should be around the net. Shame on Yahoo for not positioning this post higher
