Majesty 2 already is a fine sequel to one of the more innovative – and enjoyable – real-time strategy games released in the past decade. With its bright colors, quirky foes and unconventional gameplay it certainly stands apart from anything else in the genre. But while the sizable singleplayer campaign spanning 16 missions, dozen bonus levels and solid multiplayer offer a couple dozen hours of good gameplay. None of the maps lasted very long after playing through them once.

This will change with the third patch for Majesty 2, which will introduce randomization to existing maps. Everything from items in chests, non-quest monster dens (of which there are many) and special build zones for temples and trading posts. But Paradox isn’t stopping there and will introduce a fullblown map editor as well! Finally savvy world builders can create their own challenging missions to topple even the bonus missions in Majesty 2.

There’s no news yet on when this third patch will be released, but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait. If you haven’t already then you might want to take a look at my impressions of the demo and screenshots galore for the full game. I’m still working on a review, but rest assured that the full game is even better than the demo (which is one of the most difficult missions).

Fellow fans of Majesty: keep your eyes peeled, for soon we shall slay foul monsters yet again!
