An observant gamer can save a lot of money by frequently visiting digital download sites to check for new special offers. You can sometimes save as much as 80% on games with these deals, or even gain a free game for pre-ordering an upcoming title, which can quickly lead to a very healthy gaming collection at surprisingly little cost.
It’s a pain to constantly have to check all of these services for good deals however, so I’ll be doing that for you in this weekly feature! Short descriptions and recommendations are included per game. If the currency used on the site is not in euro (GamersGate) then I convert the pricing at the current exchange rate.

If you’ve never heard of Civilization, then suffice it to say that it’s a turn-based strategy game in which you control a nation and try to conquer the world as you progress through the ages, all the way from the stone age to the distant future.

Dawn of War was an excellent and innovative real-time strategy game that’s still a lot of fun to play today, although Dawn of War 2 has pushed it to the background a bit. The Dark Crusade expansion pack really is the best version of the game, with its introduction of the Tau and Necron factions. An older first person role-playing game powered by the Source engine. It’s one of the better RPGs out there and definitely something an RPG fan should have played. Features a modern-day-ish setting, but don’t fear for any Twilight-esque scenarios, this is much better.

If Space Rangers is a game that you can’t afford to miss, then not playing Space Rangers 2 is pure heresy. It improves upon the original in every regard.
