Surprising news comes from Blizzard today as they’ve announced that the StarCraft 2 beta will take a recess after May 31st. The beta will be inaccessible for a few weeks as Blizzard prepares the game and their Battle.Net infrastructure for the final beta phase and launch.
This final beta phase will take place a few weeks prior to StarCraft 2′s launch date of July 27th. No specific dates are given other than the end date of May 31st for the current beta test phase in all regions. Hopefully this final beta phase will include the much-requested 3v3 and 4v4 game modes – which will be present at launch but haven’t been unlocked for the current beta phase just yet.
I’m currently working on recording a few of the more interesting matches that I’ve played during the beta and setting that up for a few YouTube vodcasts. There are a few very interesting matches in there, such as a 2 vs 2 in which my ally went economy-only, because he was lagging, and I provided our army units. I also hope to have some other StarCraft 2 coverage up soon, as I’ve been very actively participating in the beta test lately.
