Patch 13 for the StarCraft 2 beta was supposed to be a great addition with many new features and a wealth of balance changes, but an unexpected flaw came along with it. Almost every match saw all the involved players dropping within just a few minutes of playtime, which made StarCraft 2 practically unplayable. As such the player and games counts have been unusually low during the past few days.

Yesterday evening Blizzard took the Battle.Net service down and seem to have made some very positive changes. There hasn’t been a new patch, but I’ve just played my four remaining 1v1 placement matches and no one dropped in any of them. It would appear that the disconnect problems have been resolved and StarCraft 2 beta testing can resume!

It also appears that I’ve gained some skill over the past couple of weeks, because I’m now placed comfortably in Gold league rather than Bronze league. It’s not too much of a surprise given the fact that my 2v2 team was already playing exclusively against Gold and Platinum league opponents before the reset. Anyway, I intend to get some actual match coverage up soon.
