Medal of Honor multiplayer seems doomed to fail, with both of the currently most popular multiplayer shooters being similarly themed modern-day shooters. DICE is working on the multiplayer component based on the Frostbite engine so surely it will be just a straight port of Battlefield: Bad Company 2? One could hardly expect them to significantly change things up while also working on the Vietnam expansion pack for Bad Company 2, right?
Actually, it seems like that assumption may just be proven wrong, with yesterday’s Medal of Honor E3 2010 multiplayer trailer demonstrating a game that combines the best of Bad Company 2 with Modern Warfare 2. It has all the destructable environments, awesome sound effects, (some) vehicles and seemingly class-based setup of Bad Company 2. Indeed at first glance it certainly looks a lot like Bad Company 2, but with more infantry-focused environments.
However it also loans heavily from Modern Warfare 2, with an identical HUD layout and similarly pronounced announcer messages. It also looks to be similarly fast paced, with infantry moving through the environment faster than in Bad Company 2 and overall a lot more intense infantry combat, partially due to more rapidly firing, and deadly, weaponry. This combination looks to make Medal of Honor one game you don’t want to miss when it releases on October 15th. Be sure to watch the embedded trailer below.
