I’ve talked at length about both the good and bad sides of current digital distribution platforms during these last few days, but now it’s time for you to let your own opinion be heard.
There are numerous different digital download services and each offers a slightly different user experience. Perhaps you enjoy the leisurely approach of a small monthly fee on GameTap, the all-inclusive experience of Steam, the excellent support and extras of Good Old Games, the no-nonsense approach of GamersGate, or simply avoid digital downloads altogether.
Whatever your stance on the matter, now is the time to let it be heard in the new poll found to the right. I’ve included the most popular current digital distribution platforms, but feel free to comment if your favorite is missing and it’ll be added to the poll. Also take care in the service you pick, because you can only vote for the one!
Read on for the results of the previous poll.
It’s been over a month since the previous poll started, so it’s good to finally share the results. The question I posed to you was “How do you prefer to play?”, referring to the division between singleplayer, multiplayer and local play amongst gamers.
Many of you, no less than 63, let their voice be heard on the matter in this multiple choice poll and the results were surprisingly balanced. It would seem that the prevailing notion in online communities that PC games without multiplayer are not worth paying for is a sentiment not shared by the average PC gamer. For while online play does lead with 22 votes (35%) it only barely ekes out a victory over singleplayer with its 22 votes (33%).
Massively Multiplayer Online Games are also popular, given their third place ranking with 18 votes (29%). The remaining options of co-op and LAN play do not trail far behind, with only my own stance on the topic, that of no preference, falling well short of all others with a mere single vote.
- Online (35%, 22 Votes)
- Singleplayer (33%, 21 Votes)
- Massively Multiplayer (29%, 18 Votes)
- Online Co-op (21%, 13 Votes)
- LAN Party (21%, 13 Votes)
- Local Co-op (16%, 10 Votes)
- No preference (2%, 1 Votes)
Note that since this was a multiple choice poll, the sum of votes exceeds the total voter count of 63.
Thank you for voting and check back in two weeks time for the results of the new poll!
